Wednesday Word of the Day

Holus-bolus \HOH-luhs-BOH-luhs\, verb:
To cleanse.

~Holus-bolus comes from a mock-Latin rhyming compound based on the phrase "whole bolus."~

Now doesn't this just sound like a magical word?  Or, perhaps a potion made up of all kinds of funky-fun ingredients. lol  Darling Diva and I have been watching a bit of Charmed this summer, I bet their kitchen would have just what we need to create one spanky holus-bolus for the soul!  ~grin~

  4. Oh definitely, Savanna! The words are so similar in spelling, sound and meaning that they have to be related. It would be kinda cool to know when the change happened. :)

  5. I did an origin search of Hocus Pocus... while not delving deeply, still, no one! that I discovered made any mention of Holus-bolus. I find that strange.
