It's Friday! Let's have some fun...

I love this video and it hits me close considering I have a character acting much the same way. She's ready to have her story told, but I'm not quite there yet. Every time I play this video, she seems to settle down some so I promised her I'd put it on the blog for those times she needs a little stress relief! LOL

Wet Wednesday

First we had really wet, rainy weather.  Days of sloppy grounds and gray, overcast skies.  Now, it's so hot and muggy I could just cry.   I'd like to go back to the days of nice gentle breezes...please.

Since the odds of that happening are slim, how about a cool and refreshing drink.

Cranberry Punch

Ingredients:

4 cups Cranberry juice
1 1/2 cup Sugar
4 cups Pineapple juice
1 tbsp Almond flavoring / extract
2 qt Ginger ale

Mixing instructions:

Combine first four ingredients. Stir until sugar is dissolved, chill. Then add ginger ale just before serving. Add ice ring to keep punch cold.

Friday Flirt - The Smile

Now I've been known to tell a dorky joke or two in order to pull today's flirt from another person, because I just love to see their smiles. 

Some smiles are broad and boisterous, while other are shy and retiring.  With some we see teeth and others just the press of lips.

My favorite smile though is the one that reaches the persons eyes, the one that opens a little bit of their soul and lets me know that for this moment all is right in the world...yep, that's the smile for me.

Friday Flirt - The Kiss

Can you kiss and flirt at the same time?  Is there a happy flirty medium between the peck on his cheek and a full on, down and dirty take me now kinda kiss?

I think so.

Lets see, there's the lip to lip press where your tongue plays secret spy and slips past the the guards to flick lightly against his upper lip, before being caught.  There's the I can't resist that sexy lower lip of yours nip, the I hope we can go home soon bite of his masculine chin...

OVERVIEW Starting May 15, 2010 at etp-treasureschest.com, we'll be offer posts, guests, and writing excercies to help guide writers in discovering their writing paths. The workshop-seminar is intened to assist writers regardless of experience in clarifying the differences between writing Romance and writing Fiction with a romantic element.

Topics will include:
*The key points of a romance novel
*What part characters play in the storyline
*The conflicts that affect the protaganists
*Goals/Motivations of the characters
*How the romance is the basic plot of the novel(novella). Its an intigral part of the novel, without it there would be no story to reveal to your readers.
*The key Points of a work of Fiction
*How Good vs Evil is the prime motivating factor of the story
*The romance story-line is secondary and has no real affect on the story, in fact it could be left out and the story would still flow forward.
*The growth of the protaganist is based not on a Happily Ever After with their partner - but rather defeating the obsticles and conflicts that are thrown in his/her way throughout the story. IE: Lord of the Rings - the romance between Aragorn and Arwin is secondary - it enhances the story but doesn't control it.

The End Is Near...

Don't worry, this isn't a 'the world is ending' or 'the sky is falling' blog, more it is a reminder to myself of how short my full-time writer time is getting. Thirty-one days or one month until the doors to my darling diva's school swing wide and she is released onto to world, homework and fancy free!

Cries of freedom ring loudly on that day as children break the bonds of ~gasp~ required learning and parents once again wish, albeit secretly, of course, that school lasted longer or heck, what about that year round class idea... hehe

But I digress. Back to the reason for this blog...my reminder. I've found over the last few summers that trying to start a story project, during the summer is a fruitless task. I need quiet and solitude to get the words on the page, not "Mom, I'm bored!" spouted off at me every five minutes.

I have also come to the realization that editing and research are great summer writing projects, for me at least. And I would be remiss if I didn't say that, I am really lucky to have the summers with my daughter. She is inquisitive and intense, she can quietly immerse herself in a project of her own and yeah, I still get a few of the "I'm bored" comments, but for the most part, she is just happy to be here with me as I am with her. This summer, we are learning to knit and/or crochet (whichever turns out to be the easier one) Wish me luck!

Oh and as for the reminder...I must finish the rough draft of my current wip. Thirty-one days and approx 4k left in words. Slow writer or not, I should be able to make that work. :)

And So It Begins...

It's that time of year, folks, Construction/road work/yard work has begun. And as luck would have it, it's all going on around me this week! This is of course, both good and bad.

The stink of cut grass and asphalt is bound to be overwhelming which unfortunately is hard on this lungs, but in an effort to stay positive, I'm going to look on the bright side...good-looking, well-built men working hard outside of my window! Wheeeee!

Another plus here, it gives me all kinds of ideas for this weeks blogs! ;) Wed Workshop might have to be changed to Wed Wishes, but number one on that list will be directions to wherever these lovely workers do their training! hehe

Okay, gotta get back to my wind..err story, yeah that's it, story!
