Cover Reveal: The Submission

Hehehe...Check out the lovely new cover for my recent sale, The Submission!  Isn't that just the most delicious thing you've ever seen?  ~Happy sighs~

Oh, okay, I know, I'm biased.  Of course I think it's the "cat's" meow (pun intended, I'm in a silly mood today.)  I do, however, lurv my new cover!  :D

What?  Oh, you didn't even know I'd sold another book?  Yeah, sorry, my bad.

Guess what ... I sold The Submission to Liquid Silver Books! ~happy dance, girly squeal~

Moment of backstory:

My life since Sept has been in happy chaos.

'Cause I finally kicked myself in the ass and did what I've been wanting to do for a long time...  I went back to school.  ~gulp~  My major, computer science.  I want to add web developer to my list of careers.  In addition to writing, I'd love to build websites and be the person who creates awesome covers like the one above that came from the fabulous folks in the LSB art dept.

What I didn't expect was the utter chaos and busyness involved in going back.  I'd forgotten what it took to be a student.  Darling Diva gets props for making it look so easy...  ;)

Any who, back to the matter at hand...my awesome book cover!  Isn't she pretty... must stare at it some more.  :D

I also have a release date...(providing the creek don't rise and all that) Jan 27, 2014.  Sounds like a darn good day to me!

Have a good one.

Sunday Scribblings - Bio

About Her...or, Mz. Muse as it were.

Hot damn, a chance to talk about myself, what a rare and lovely treat!  My author friend Serena has not been allowing me out nearly as much as I would like lately.  Of course, if she let me run the show things probably would go to pot very quickly...I mean, who wants to clean (make the kidlet earn her keep, I say) and cook (take-out baby!).  Yes, Serena, I see your frown, but really, my way would get lots of the stories hidden up here in your noodle out for public consumption.  That is what you want, right?  Fine, FINE...no pressing Darling Diva into service, jeez.

Anyway, about me.  I can't really give you specs on myself as I like to keep it fresh, change with each day.  While some folks change their clothes every day, I change my skin, my hair, hell even my gender when the feeling hits.  I even once came to Serena as a big ass wolf...scared the crap out of her, but it made me laugh.  I like to laugh.  I also like to cry and be a big old bitch when the occasion calls for it...  Today I'm all woman in soft silky black pants, sky high I'm all that leather boots and a flowing white shirt.  Arg, matey's.  :D

I've been the keeper of Serena's stories from the very beginning.  I've functioned as her imaginary friend, her fantasies and that whisper in the back of her mind nudging her towards writing.  She's my eyes in the world, touches to her skin exhilarate mine and the look in her alpha males eyes as he gazes upon her reminds us we are loved.  We are separate... yet we are one.

It's So Quiet...

Hello.... ~cheep, cheep go the crickets~

Wow, so school is back in session and I'm once again without Darling Diva during the days...it's so quiet around here!  No TV playing, no music, no flute, no piano, no guitar (yep she's learning that too).  It's prime writing time and Mz. Muse has extended her vacation.  She tends to desert me during the summers, but usually returns, somewhat, when school starts.  This year she's lounging on her massive purple chaise lounge with wine in one hand and chocolate in the other.  She cares not that it's only 9:30am here and insists that somewhere in the world it's drinking time.  It's funny that I should get a wine swilling ~am not~ bitch ~excuse me~ as a muse when I can only lightly engage with alcohol on my best days ~your loss~

Chocolate, of course, is universal!

I'm here Mz. Muse - ready, willing and able.  When will you be?

The Other Woman

Madame de Pompadour  Portrait by Charles-André van Loo
Such an odd topic to be going on about, however, lately it seems to be popping up around me in books and TV.

Just today, Darling Diva and I watched a Dr. Who episode which involved the woman above, Jeanne Antoinette Poisson, Marquise de Pompadour, also known as Madame de Pompadour.  This was the woman known to all as chief mistress to the King of France Louis XV.  Imagine that, chief mistress, the head honchetta of other women.  She was second only to the Queen, but really, I wonder, did she truly come in second place or did the Queen do her duty and produce the heirs then to be left alone while the King maintained an actual relationship with his mistress?  Where the King/mistress relationships the real love matches while the marriages were about business only?

From what I've read the opposite seems like it would be true and the mistress' view this life like a business contract.  Wealth, notoriety, the endless trappings of a 'good' life and mostly the freedom to do what they wished with out being shackled by society, it sure seems like the good life.  Only if that were true, then were the Queen's considered the love match?

Doubtful considering how they were treated most of the time.  Heck, Madame de Pompadour lived in apts above the kings rooms which were probably close to the Queen's rooms as well.  Let's be honest here, you know the Queen probably had to listen to the grunts and groans, yelps and delightful squeals of the King and mistress in what was most likely an above average sex life.  Two times a week?  Right ~rolls eyes~

This, of course, leads me to believe there was little emotion between the King and Queen.  So what happened to love?

Now in all honesty, the Queen probably had a stable of lovers, or at least one steady herself, but the point is how did people live with this lack of love?  Emotion?

So, back to the original thought, the other woman, what an odd thing to be going on about, but it makes me wonder if I could write a story involving a husband, a wife and TOW?  Probably not as I just can't wrap myself around the emotions, or lack there of, involved.  No one would "win" in my story, mainly because I can see the situation from all angles and while I'm pro-love, back then, marriage was like a business deal and love took a back seat.  Maybe then I should take up the challenge and try to write said story...

Who knows, maybe it'll go to the bottom of my to write list.

Wednesday Word

The Letter

Thomas Wilmer Dewing  (1851–1938)

holograph \HOL-uh-graf, -grahf, HOH-luh-\, adjective:
1. wholly written by the person in whose name it appears: a holograph letter.
1. a holograph writing, as a deed, will, or letter.

“An unexpectedly thoughtful young man," said Chase, straightening the frame of (Queen Victoria's holograph letter. Originally, he had planned to put the Emerson autograph between those of Longfellow and Tennyson but then he had had second thoughts about keeping a valuable letter addressed not so much to him as the Secretary of the Treasury and so, with a sad heart, he handed it over to the Treasure archives...
-- Gore Vidal, Lincoln: A Novel, 1984

Holograph entered English in the 18th century from the Greek holos + graph, meaning "whole written." ~ www.dictionary.com

So, in retrospect, this work of are could have been called The Holograph.  Also, when I write love letters to Hubby, I'm actually writing love holographs.  LOL  Interesting, but it doesn't have quite the same punch as the word letter.

I Can't Get Away With Anything Anymore...

Yep, back to school needs to happen soon so I can stop feeling like a bad parent.  My conversation with Darling Diva...

DD:  Mom, what are you doing?

Me:  Brainshhtorming.

DD:  Brainstroming?

Me:  Yep.

DD:  It looks more like napping.

Me:  Nope, Brainshhtorming.

DD:  I'm bored.

Me:  Go do some brainshhtorming.

DD:  I stopped brainstorming by two.

Me:  I know...so sad.

Many moments of quiet...

DD:  I'm going to go rot my brain now.

Me:  Okay.

DD:  Have a nice brainstorm.

Me:  Mmmmhumm

Monday Muse...

Starting off my week with a bit of groveling...

Mz. Muse:  It was a good idea.

Me:  I'm sure it was.

Mz. Muse:  No, it was a great idea!

Me:  I'm sorry.

Mz. Muse:  No you're not, you're just saying that to get back into my good graces so I'll give you more ideas.

Me:  Not true.  I really am sorry...I don't know what happened.  One moment I was excited and agreeing with your excellent suggestions for a story, then the next I...

Mz. Muse:  Was sleeping!

Me: So, so sorry.  How can I make it up to you?

Mz. Muse:  You can't.  I'm going over here to pout in the corner and never talk to you again.  You go over there and think about what you've done.

Me:  Never?

Me:  Never ever?

Me:  Never ever ever?

Mz. Muse: No!  Oh, you...shut up!  I must pout.

Me:  I am sorry and I love you.

Mz. Muse:  I know.  I love you too.  Go think about our problem.

Me:  I will.  I promise, but after this episode of Supernatural, okay?

Mz. Muse:  Gah!!!

Me:  I'm watching with Darling Diva...

Mz. Muse:  Fine, but only because I like her.

Wednesday Word

I almost skipped over this word today until I read the last definition...

Scabrous \SKAB-ruhs\, adjective:
1. full of difficulties.
2. having a rough surface because of minute points or projections.
3. indecent or scandalous; risqué; obscene: scabrous books.

Scabrous is related to the common word scab. Both terms come from the Latin word scaber meaning "rough."  via dictionary.com

There's no doubt in my mind that some folks out there would consider the picture above indecent or scandalous, while others would see it as obscene.  I, myself, find it beautiful, touching, artistic and yes, perhaps a touch risqué.  It seems possible that my issue is not so much with the word scabrous (though I'm not crazy about the sound) but the adding of risqué to the definition.

Here's the definition of risqué...

Daringly close to indelicacy or impropriety; off-color: a risqué story.
Indelicate not indecent
Off-color is certainly true
And I would add my own words to this definition - tantalizing, sexy, naughty.
To link risqué with scabrous, devalues the word risqué.
More than likely mindset plays a big part in the use of these words.  If someone were to call me or my writing scabrous, I'd feel some offense.  But call me risqué and I'll smile happily for days.

Friday Foto...

Okay, yes, I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff.  I think because I'm such a dreamer.

So you see the picture above...beautiful blue sky, palm tree and boats bobbing in the warm St. Croix waters(in my mind it's warm).  Well as gorgeous as that shot is, you can go to this link http://www.gotostcroix.com/live and watch it all live!

BUT...be warned that it is a major time drain if you like seeing live shots of places you never been.  People, strangers, will meander across the screen, living their lives hundreds of miles away and you're watching.  Hey, there's a story there.

Right now the bones of it are tickling Mz. Muses' interest.

Maybe I should go back to watching it some more and see what I get.  I'm really not trying to make excuses on this Friday afternoon... really, I'm not.  ~wink~

Have a great weekend!

Sunday Scribbligs - Belly

Squatters, Mum
Have come to stay
Upon this land
Where I do play.

They dash around
All quiet and sullen
Hiding from us
Me and my mate Cullen.

Should I be quick
And snatch one up
Can I bring him
Home for sup?

We’ll feed him great
And fill his belly
With heaping glop’s
Of baked lamb and fine mint jelly.

Friends we’ll be
With the beings
Upon the moor.

Friday Foto...

I'm fascinated by dragons.  Legends, myths of their strength and cunning.  Their romance and sexuality.  This picture seems to bring each thing home for me.  Ah, to live and love among dragon-kind.

Tell It To Me Tuesday

Breathing in and out, in and out...starting over is a very good thing.  I try hard to practice this quote and sometimes it works, other times I want to go back to bed and wait for the next new morning.  ~wink~

My Sexy Saturday - The Challenge

“Are you going to get in?” His voice, low and growling, drew a wet heat from her core.

“I don’t know,” she whispered. “I’ve never done this before.” Nor, as a half-breed, had she ever been given the opportunity to have sex with a full-blood. Shoot, her unusual family unit guaranteed that she’d never be welcomed into a pride. Now, here she was soon to engage in illicit acts with one of the finest specimens of shifter she’d ever seen.

Things were looking up.

Bastian stepped closer, and her back warmed from the heat pulsing off him. Long fingers brushed the sides of her breasts, drawing the nipples to rigid points. “There’s a first time for everything.”

Oh yes, there was. Tonight she would climb into her car and willingly go wherever he wanted to take her. She’d allow herself to revel in the pure passion of sex with a full blooded shifter, setting aside what would come next. Tomorrow was soon enough to find a nice, boring human and live a nice, boring life.

This was her chance to find out if there was more to sex than the lackluster orgasms found with human partners. For years she’d wondered if there more to it than the grunts and groans, the ooh babies and the repetitive pounding which never seemed to get her close to the elusive orgasm.

Fine hair at the back of her neck stood on end as he moved closer. Shivers raced to her toes as he nuzzled the side of her neck and breathed deeply. His rumble tingled at the base of her neck and vibrated along her spine until it reached the already aching flesh between her thighs. From the erotically charged sound, she knew the growl was no mere request—it was a summons.

Friday Foto...

Photo found at seemorepictures.blogspot.com
Okay, I'm an acknowledged picture whore so once again I spent much time this morning on Pinterest.  :D  I really could lose myself in the photo wonders I find waiting for me which to a point I think is wonderful.  It's relaxing, inspiring, awe-inducing to click through the wonderful things found there...

The above photo I pinned because it's where you'd find me if I ever won a huge powerball!  LOL  My hubster designs his dream truck and RV package and I find beach homes in Hawaii for when we win.  Good thing we'll have lots of money to do both.  ;)

Dream Big!  Have a wonderful weekend.

Wow, so this is what my blog looks like!  LOL...I've been gone to long.  I've got no excuse except to say this has been a crazy, crazy week for me.  That being said I've decided to let Mz. Muse have her way today and post one of her fondest eye candy's - Jensen Ackles.  Heck, who can blame her, looking at the man brings to mind laughing, loving and the kind of sex that curls your toes.

Right on Mz. Muse, you have an awesome eye for the men!

Have a great weekend, Ya'll!

Wicked Wednesday...

Hell-o to the neighbors wickedness
Okay, admission time!  I, Serena Shay, am having a love affair with Pinterest!  Sexy pictures fill the boards, but that's not the only reason for my stalking.  The sheer volume of eye candy, human and location wise, fills Mz. Muse to overflowing.  She and I are admitted graphics whores...we can't get enough!  We could spend hours scrolling though the pictures of just about anything you can imagine and still want more.

Pinterest, you have a wicked hold on us and we're not complaining.

Monday Muse...

How could he have chosen the harsh, sordid promise of fame over warm love of family and friends?  He'd left the beauty, both inside and outside of this woodland home, instead, choosing the cold mechanical steel of a jet to fly him to parts unknown.  He'd sung to the ungrateful masses, fucked indiscriminately with the groupies and swilled, snorted and smoked any substance that would erase reality.

Ah, wait, that's right...love was a fallacy he'd been sucked into one to many times.  It didn't exist with his alpha, his unequivocal leader...his prick of a father.

"Love is a weakness!" Leon bellowed at their last dinner together. "And your brand of love, Dylan, is an affront to everything that makes you the next pack leader.  Fix it...or I will!"

Fabulous Foto Friday...

How awesome would it be to while away the time here with all this color and beauty surrounding you.
