Happy Easter!

Ever wondered about the orgin of the Easter Bunny?

The abbreviated history: "Many pagan cultures held spring festivals" hundreds of years ago. One such festival was in celebration of "Eostre, the goddess of dawn." Mental Floss explains that Eostre was "linked to the hare and the egg, both symbols of fertility." As a way to convert the pagans to Christianity, missionaries began turning the festivals into Christian holidays.

Wednesday Word of the Day

Tenterhooks \TEN-ter-hooks\, noun:

1. On tenterhooks, in a state of uneasy suspense or painful anxiety.

2. One of the hooks or bent nails that hold cloth stretched on a tenter.

~I have to say, I didn't realize the hooks used to set up a tent had their own name, but I'm intrigued by the first definition - Uneasy suspense or painful anxiety - hmmm I can think of several places I could use this word, but would it pull the reader out of the story?~

Lost in my Gray Matter...

On the run from her hero, not ready to mate, our heroine is overlooking the Mighty Mississippi from a tiny ledge.  Her cell, ringing in her back pocket and straps of her fake Jimmy Choo's in her teeth...  Will she fall, can she answer the phone, is her mate close enough to get her?

And a commercial break....  ~At least in my head there is, dang it!~

I've been futzing with this scene now for a while and I can't get it right.  The character is tight-lipped (not wanting to lose those shoes you know) and I'm not quite sure what direction to take her.  One way disrupts the rest of the already written story, but the other just kind of flops.

I need a third option.

One that fits each of the characters and keeps the story going.  The third option must be hiding somewhere in my gray matter...I just need to find it.  :)
