1. The movement of the eye when it makes a sudden change, as in reading.
2. The act of checking a horse quickly with a single strong pull of the reins.
~Well then, I must saccade, a lot! Nope, sadly I don't have a horse, but I have a bunch of books. ;) I find it interesting though, that the same word can be used in eye movement and horse checking. I wonder if it had something to do with the horses eye movement when they use that "single strong pull"?~
Serena, that's a new word for me. And, I've read a lot of horse books in the past. Maybe, I just don't remember it.
ReplyDeleteIt's sounds as though it might have a French origin... and it very well could be related to how a horse would move their eyes when the reins were pulled hard... hmmm...
