Before reading A MAGICAL RETURN, I was intrigued by the premise of this story, an unusual one for me despite my fascination with all things paranormal. Let me tell you, Serena Shay’s latest book powerfully delivers on its promise of ‘magic’, Latin included.

That said, the joy for me, as a reader, was in the relationship between Conleth and his ‘unbelieving’ woman, Emterra. Because, not only am I a sucker for true love, I have this deep yearning to ‘feel’ the intimate passions between a hero and his heroine.

Too often, I’ve found that deep connection missing. Not in Ms. Shay’s highly erotic love story.

Note here: the sexual pleasures explicitly titillate the senses, and is not to be missed.

Yes, Con and Em’s reunion is deliciously complicated by their witch Others. However, Ms. Shay gorgeously writes the impassioned nuances between her lovers in a way that allows us to experience their unique, one-on-one intimacy. And, I felt every delectable nuance. Thank you, Ms. Shay.

Okay, admittedly I have a hankerin’ swoonin’ thing for Ms. Shay’s hero. When it comes to his tenderer feelings and his most ferocious erotic desires, I adore an alpha who stands his ground, and Bastion did not disappoint.

This were-jaguar leader obviously needs a good woman and he doesn’t bother going into macho denial when he finds his mate. No, he owns up to it—definitely my kind of hero and always such sexy-goodness when reading an erotic romance.

Yes, Bastion has a little dysfunction problem when Marina abandons him for a very good reason, a secret she has to keep. Still, it’s his heart that is truly craving his beautiful were-mate, not just his admirable ability to satisfy her over and over.

I could vividly see Bastion in my imagination, both in his human form and his were-jaguar form, given Ms. Shay’s lovely and powerful descriptive voice. And, I could feel him, his need for Marina and his devastation when he loses her.

In fact, one of the most enjoyable elements of this story, is the author’s imaginative use of description and how she seamlessly wove her were-world into the contemporary world.

While Bastion did make a male-silly mistake in winning back his Marina, in the end he was there for her. Absolutely, it did my heart good when Ms. Shay’s heroine found the ‘fight’ inside herself, and the two destined mates finally walked the right path back to each other.

So I was reading my friend Savanna's blog today, where she mused on the banning of books and she made a comment that smacked me in the head and pulled this post from me, as well as gave me an idea for a possible story! Thanks Lady Kougar!

She said: "Gee, someday, reading itself could be outlawed..."

Whoa, when I stopped hyperventilating, I thought what kind of world would this be without books? Without reading?

The love of a good book goes way beyond just learning something new or explaining how something works. Reading is a way to relax, reduce the everyday stress of, well, life! Reading can take you on the vacation you can't afford. Reading can show you alternate lives, alternate realities, histories you are to young to remember, wise words of people long dead. Reading can show you love, bring you love(yes it can).

Imagine will you a world devoid of the mental stimulation found in a book. What do you do with your free time if you can't afford to go to movies or anywhere that costs money to attend?

TV you say? Can you afford all the new contraptions you need to actually watch TV these days? What if you can't? Do we all become Zombie like people going through the motions of the day?

Gads, I hope not!

"Gee, someday, reading itself could be outlawed..."

NO! Not just no, but HELL NO! The day something like this was allowed is the day I start my life of crime!

Books are beauty, stories are a salvation and reading is a right...go out there and grab your right today!
