Tuesday Two...Quotes

Quotes from a famous American.  That was Darling Diva's project this week for school.  So when I asked her if she had an American in mind to use she, in her just now learning about social studies way, said "George Washington, Mom."

Okay.

The second part of the project was to tell what the quote means to you.  Now she picked different quotes than I did, but as I was helping her find quotes by our famous first president, I came across two that struck a cord in me for this Tuesday Two.

Hope you enjoy.

"If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."  George Washington

"Let your heart feel for the afflictions and distress of everyone, and let your hand give in proportion to your purse."  George Washington

  1. Ah, George Washington, he is a favorite of mine. I did a college oral report on him for American History. And, I got to visit Mount Vernon, once. The whole design of the estate is impressive as far as functioning well, and as far as aesthetics. I wish I could spend a lot of time there. There was one of his saddles on display as well.

I didn't know about those two quotes. But, how perfect.

  2. Very cool, Savanna! I would love to visit Mount Vernon and take it all in. Someday, darling diva, the hubby and I just might. :)
