Book Review - Al Franken, Giant of the Senate
Hi all, yes I know it's been a good long while since I visited, but I'm working on that. I thought I'd start back with a review of a book I just finished. It's not romance, but it is a fabulously funny and instructive read, well worth your time.
Enjoy!
~~~~~
Al Franken, Giant of the Senate is without a doubt one of the best political books I’ve ever read. The balance between his comedy days and his Senatorial days is fantastic. Not once in this book did I feel like I was only reading about an Al mask, he let it all hang out and shared with the audience the reality of Al. This is the same feeling I get while watching him speak—he pulls me in and I always myself saying, “Hell ya, Al…you go for it, tell it like it is.” His voice is front and center and comes out clearly, making you feel like you’re sitting with him having a one on one conversation. Impressive!
If pressed, I doubt I could pick out one favorite thing from this book. The humor is so well spread throughout you find yourself laughing quite a bit. His instruction on how the government really works is simple and interesting and the work he does for Minnesotan’s, as well as the rest of the country is remarkable.
I’m proud to tell everyone that Al Franken is my Senator.
If only more people would follow the impressive and wonderful example Al Franken sets, we would then truly be on a path to greatness. Hmm, wouldn’t that make a great award? This award goes to insert name here for being an open-minded, caring, honest, and interested in making a difference through hard work and a genuine desire to improve the world for everyone living in it. Oh, and ya gotta be open to laughing—every single day! I shall call my award The Al Franken!
Another Review for The Challenge
"This is a perfect book to curl up with on a cold winter night. Its steamy eroticism will warm you right up... Shay's writing is polished. Her characters are three-dimensional and vivid; their dialogue is natural and colorful. She makes you care about Bastian and Marina and pits them against a villain who deserves a fall. Rich physical descriptions of the characters, the Minnesota countryside, and the shapeshifting process fully immerse you in the story. Her climatic fight sequence is excellent. Best of all, her sex scenes are scorching and full of emotion.
After reading this little gem, I'm looking forward to Shay's next book."
Woot!! Another awesome review for The Challenge! This one on Amazon. Thank you, L.M. Verna for everything, I'm so glad you liked it!
Can you see this smile!
Well I should probably play it cool, but cool is not at all how I feel. I'm more walking on air, dancing on flower petals, singing (badly) happy tunes....
The Romance Studio reviewed The Challenge and gave it five wonderful hearts! :) They liked it, they got it and I am one happy author!
I just have to leave you with my favorite line from the review...
This is a great story with a mixture of hot kinky sex, unlimited drama, and a hero and heroine who kick butt.
It made my day!!!!
Man, I sooooo want to be Laurell K Hamilton when I grow up as a writer!
I just finished Jason's story Blood Noir and Oh my! As it is with Ms. Hamilton's work I am always swept up into it.
If Anita is in the middle of a gun fight, I'm right there with her, gun in hand, the security of blades at my wrists and fury in my head.
If Anita is feeding the ardeur or just having sex for the sake of sex, yep I'm there too. In the words of Austin Powers, when I finish reading it "I am spent!"
Jason however brought me to yet another place.
Peace.
As I followed the story through Anita's eye's, I came to realize why Jason holds such appeal. He is the easiest of all Anita's men. The easiest to play with, easiest to protect and easiest to love. There is something about Jason, that makes you want to curl up in his arms and watch the world slip away.
Just for a little bit.
Sounds odd, I know, but maybe some of my fellow Anita fans will understand. And if you have never read an Anita Blake novel...run on out and get one. Start at the beginning with Guilty Pleasures and I guarantee that you won't stop until you put down Blood Noir.
Yep they are just that good!
Have a good one =)
A Lick of Frost...no spoilers
Nope no spoilers here just a gleeful OMG I loved this book expression! ~smile~
A Lick of Frost by Laurell K Hamilton is an wonderful book. Merry is both soft and strong, wise but a bit naive and surrounded by a passel of incredibly interesting, strong and HOT men!
The characters in this series come to life at Mrs. Hamilton's hand and each story gives you a deeper peek at the many different people in Merry's life.
Each story is an emotional journey not to be missed. If you haven't had the chance to read any or Laurell K Hamilton's works do yourselves a favor and move her books to the top of your must read list...they are worth it!
**note - make sure to read them from the beginning, both the Meredith Gentry and the Anita Blake series build on the previous stories and seriously should not be missed!
Have a great Thanksgiving
